Characterisation of Part-Through Damage in a Stiffened Panel by a Time-Reversal Based Imaging Method
Abstract
Most of the research on the use of guided wave to detect and quantify damage, particularly those based on time-reversal concept and diffraction tomography, requires analytical solution of the Green’s function. This paper presents an extended time-reversal imaging approach which enables the use of numerically determined Green’s function in imaging of a structure with complex geometry. Imaging results have revealed that damage location, shape and size can be accurately constructed if the scatter wave field for a stiffened plate is sampled in the spatial domain by 16 or more sensors.
