Implementing the Surface Response to Excitation Method (SuRE) with Non-Contact Sensor at Hard to Reach Locations
Abstract
Performance of the Surface Response to Excitation (SuRE) method was evaluated when the data was collected with a scanning laser vibrometer while an ordinary mirror direct the beam to the desired location. The surface of a horizontally located test plate was excited with a piezoelectric element. The horizontal beam of the scanning laser vibrometer was directed to the test plate surface by reflecting it of an ordinary mirror. The location of the weight was estimated from the contour maps which show the differences of the transfer functions at the grid location before and after the load. The locations of the weight in four different tests were estimated with reasonable accuracy.
